PUBLIC ART

2020
Artist publication, Instagram page, walking tour, Berlin-Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, “Stadt findet Kunst” exhibition series

“Public Art” seeks to redefine what public art is and can be for public audiences around the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The project documents and re-presents – in the form of a walking tour, Instagram page, and artist publication – improvised, unintentional, and at times temporary manifestations of “art” in public space. The aim is to convey to audiences an “expanded field” (Krauss) of art while raising awareness of one’s surroundings as a de facto source for artistic encounters of the everyday.

Artist publication: DIN A5, 48 pages / 24 images with foldout map of district indicating locations of improvised public “artworks,” edition of 500. Publication is displayed and available free of charge at the following district locations: Kommunale Galerie Berlin; Museum Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in der Villa Oppenheim; Heinrich-Schutz Bibliothek; DietrichBornhoeffer Bibliothek; BHR OX bauhaus reuse.
